Emphasis shall be placed upon the achievement of technique and the achievement of musicianship by individual and small groups with respect of the active demonstration of skills in all facets of the music presentation. Achievement it defined as the simultaneous consideration of what is being done and how well it is done. Evaluate the entire performance. It is important that all performers have sufficient training to support the vocabulary.

Emphasis shall be placed on the achievement of technique and the achievement of musicianship by the individual percussionist and grouped section of the ensemble with respect to the active demonstration of skills in all facets of the percussion presentation. Risk shall be considered inherent to all criteria being evaluated. When comparing units of similar proficiency, risk will be used to determine rank. Evaluate the entire performance. It is important that all performers have sufficient training to support the vocabulary.

| Participants & Teams |
The Malaysia Drum Battle Competition is open to all drum line groups with no limitation to age and style of play.
All participants and teams competing will be observing the rules and regulations of the Malaysia Drum Battle Competition 2009 as stipulated by the organizer.

| Composition |
A player can only be playing and representing ONE TEAM and must be registered with Malaysia World Band Competition 2009.
A team can register a minimum of 10 players with a maximum of 20 players.

| Instruments & Uniforms |
All instruments used for the competition must be percussion instruments complete with carrier. STATIC INSTRUMENTS with stands ARE NOT ALLOWED.
All bands must be decently attired or properly uniformed fit to compete in a competition in public.

| Competition Arena |
The competition arena is 20m x 20m.
Rehearsal and warming up areas will be designated accordingly within the competition venue.

| Performance |
Each drum line feature SHALL NOT BE longer than 120 SECONDS.
Every group will perform one by one for FIRST round, facing the judges,
60 seconds only.
The SECOND round performance will be based on random by judges.
Drum line group will be performing one after another facing each other.
The Third round will use the fall system, based on amount of total participants.
Each drum line group will need to prepare at least 2 different routines that consists drum line cadences of their own choices, to be executed together with some drill and display

| Disqualification |
No pyrotechnics, discharge of arms, pressurized canisters, dangerous materials, inflammable liquids or animals will be permitted in or around the competition area.
Smoke machines are not allowed. Electrical (plug in or battery operated) or compressed air apparatuses, including lights, lasers, and flash cubes (electrical or chemical) will not be allowed.
No motorized vehicles, lighting cannot be turned off in the performance area. The use of powder, dirt or any other airborne substance shall be strictly prohibited.
During a performance, adult or non drum line player may not coach, cue or any sort of signals to any performing members.
No one allowed near the adjudicator table. |

| Penalty |
Any team found producing rehearsal noise which interferes with the competition, will receive a 2.5 points deduction.
Any team performing more than maximum stipulated time, will be penalized 0.1 point for every 3 seconds over these times.
Any team crossing performance boundaries will be penalized 0.1 point per offense.
Any team that violates the rules and regulations determined by the Judges/Competition Director, will receive 2.5 points deduction.
All decision by judges are FINAL.

| RULES |
General Rules |
• |
All competitors must have turned in an entry form, completely filled out, and signed by a legal guardian. |
• |
All competitors must have checked in with the stewards, at least 30 minutes prior to the first competitor taking the boards on any event
i.e. If the first even starts at 2pm, all competitors must have checked in by 1.30pm. |
• |
For every event, competitors must be ready to take the boards when called. We will not go hunting for competitors. |
|
| No-restarts-of a tune. If the instrument or competitor stops, they may attempt to continue from where there stopped, and finish, but may not-restart-at a previous point of the tune. |
